Dexter wants to kill Trinity, but he ended up saving his life instead. Here’s a recap of the latest episode…
Upon visiting the Mitchells, Dexter learns that Arthur is taking a trip to Tampa, supposedly for a Four Walls build. Dexter thinks he’s about to kill again and thinks of an excuse for work and for Rita to tag along: a conference on weather patterns. Against Arthur’s initial judgment, Dexter snags a ride with the serial killer by claiming he needs to get away.
How come? He later opens up to Arthur and says he accidentally killed a man while hunting. This actually inspired Trinity to share his past with his new pal. He takes Dexter to his childhood home and shows him the bathroom where his sister fell to death. It was apparently because a 10-year old Arthur had scared her. He goes on to tell Dexter about his mother’s suicide and his abusise father’s death.

For what purpose? To make Dexter feel better, so he’d know both of them had accidentally taken innocent lives.
Back in Miami, meanwhile, Deb had helped Quinn suggest DNA road blocks as a way to catch the Trinity Killer. She also realized that somehow as tall as Trinity could not have shot her. Then who did? Also, Laguerta and Angel were unable to keep their hands off each other, giving in to passion late one night in the office, despite having told the boss their relationship was over.
Might Dexter and Rita’s soon be over? She got close to neighbor Elliot after he took the kids fishing and stuck around to have dinner.
In Tampa, Trinity appeared to be losing it. When he and Dexter had lunch, and the latter left for the bathroom, Dex returned to find Trinity at the table of a random family, telling them all about his sister’s tragic death. Weird stuff.
This pair returned to ther hotel and Dexter said goodnight, only to set up a kill room and plan his murder. But when he snuck into Arthur’s room, Trinity was gone. Dexter ran over to the Four Walls build site and found Arthur spreading the ashes of his sister, prepared to jump. Dexter actually grabbed him as he did and saved his life. Arthur was grateful for the save on the way home - he also got caught in the DNA road block, but turned around because the line was supposedly so long.
All these actions caused Dexter to question the meaning of remorse. Did Trinity feel it? Is that why he tried to kill himself? Does Dexter feel it, after killing an innocent last season? Does that make him (gulp!) human?

What seemed like a filler episode of Dexter ended intriguingly this week. Here’s a quick summary of what went down:
Deb gave up on her search for the woman Harry had an affair with, when it turned out one former CI said Harry slept with all his informants. To Dexter’s delight, Deb never came across his mother’s file. To Dexter’s chagrin, though, Deb did receive permission to pursue Trinity when she linked him to the bludgeoning case.

Meanwhile, Trinity and Dexter bonded a bit more, as the former took the latter to chop down a tree. Trinity seemed to be in an especially foul mood, and acted strangely when he hit a deer with his van, yet couldn’t bring himself to put the animal out of its misery. Dexter took an axe to the creature and did it for him. At the end of the episode, we see that Trinity has built a coffin. Who could this be fore? He new pal “Kyle?”
Quinn also now has suspicions of Dexter. He wonders why Dex held on to his apartment for so long and actually follows Dexter around one night. Shades of Doakes from season two.
After learning from Trinity that it’s important for kids to be pushed into activities, Dexter signs Cody up to be a Young Sailor. Just one problem: this means Dexter must accompany him on a camping trip. In the middle of the night, after Cody has fallen asleep, Dexter sneaks out and kills a photographer that he believed had killed and raped women. Now, there’s another problem:
When Dexter arrives at work the next day, he discovers that the police has arrested the photographer’s assistance. As Dexter says to conclude the episode, he killed an innocent man.

Dexter’s house gets vandalized. There is spray paint everywhere. Rita and their neighbors have a neighborhood watch meeting in the living room. They decide on a plan to have their streets watched 24/7, which is going to make it difficult for Dexter to slip in and out to make his kills. Vandalism in the town gets worse, and Dexter suspects a teenager to be the perpetrator, but it turns out to be his father. Dexter confronts him and learns that his wife died and left his life in shambles and that he is no longer going to be able to pay rent. Dexter is relieved that he is leaving the neighborhood. On Dexter’s way back home, some motion-censored lights come on and he grabs a broom and breaks the bulbs. Rita see’s all this happen.
The Trinity Killer makes his next kill. He forces his victim, a mother of two, to stand at the edge of a building then falls to her death. Lundy thinks this killing involves the serial killer and Debra agrees. But Quinn and LaGuerta insist that, without more evidence, it is a suicide. LaGuerta tells Debra that if she wants, she can continue to investigate on her own, which means she would be spending more time with Lundy. She is convinces herself she is in love with Anton but the good time she has hanging out with Lundy makes her seriously reconsider her relationship with Anton.
LaGuerta and Batista’s relationship is starting to get complicated. LaGuerta is worried that they won’t be able to account for the time they spend together. Batista is more focused on keeping their relationship going. Quinn still thinks Dexter is going to tell someone about taking money from the crime scene. Dexter really doesn’t care.

Ever since Dexter killed his brother, he’s been “all Jekyll and no Hyde.” But the opening scene with Dexter lying in bed and the fan slicing through his image sing a different tune. It’s a great image that shows a distorted image of him — both the Jekyll and the Hyde. Just the way we like him.
The 50′ recap: Dexter was drifting and unable to find his “sea legs” since killing his brother. His sister was also having a difficult time getting back into her work. Bombarded with images and talk of the ITK, Deb lost her composure and scared the bejesus out of a young boy but ended up landing a lead on the drug trafficking of Chino’s gang. Dexter’s previous handiwork, his “beautiful bodies of work,” were found in the harbor. The FBI sent “Special Agent Rock Star” Frank Lundy to help solve the puzzle of the Bay Harbor Butcher, a moniker both he and Dexter abhor. Rita decided to bury her dead husband. Dexter lied to Rita about his nonexistent drug addiction and managed to bring a steady hand to his visit with Chino. Dexter told Deb she could stay with him and finally let go of his brother.
Whoever came up with the idea that has Dexter working on his own case is pretty brilliant. We are in for a real treat this season. More great writing in these fantastic lines:
“I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister.”
“You totally douched me.”
Regarding gators, “They ate my puppy.”
“This guy is officially the highest point in Florida.”
“F–k, he’s big.” (Little Chino is 6′ 9″.)
“Tough family, and those were just my sisters.”
Maria found a way to get Esme off her back and into her pocket, right where she wants her to be. Angel was off in his spiritual new “hoo-hah” world and Doakes was more pissed than ever. And Rita, well, as far as I am concerned, she’s off her rocker. But we’ll get to that.
Poor Dexter was a little nervous when the captain brought in the FBI serial-killer specialist: Frank Lundy, played by Keith Carradine!!! Nice. Lundy is sharp, but will he be able to outsmart our hero?
Even though we know what happened to Dexter, the two flashbacks to the shipping container were upsetting. Why were Dexter and Rudy/Brian separated? Does anyone remember?
At the funeral Dexter dwelled on Jesus’ wound and turned to find Rudy/Brian there. He had to let his brother go in order to move on and the only way that was going to happen is if he could get his killing game back on.
I was a little worried when Chino was going to kill little Joey with a pipe iron. The kid was a total schmuck, but not so much so as to be killed for it. Fortunately for him, Dexter speared Chino in the neck with the tranquilizer dart before he ever got out of the lift. “I’m not so much doing this to you as I’m doing it for me.” Steady as a surgeon Dexter goes right in with the knife and breathed in that sense of life he’d been struggling to find. Now he could exhale. He’s back on his game! He even found a better way to “dispose of his trash,” the Gulf Stream. But why not destroy the evidence totally? Is getting caught part of the game? Why doesn’t he use any of Masuka’s ideas? “Alligators, Everglades, pig farms, wood chippers, sulfuric acid, hell, even meat pies.”
Rita felt responsible for Paul’s death. So she confronted Dexter about attacking Paul. He came clean, “I totally acted on impulse.” Now she thinks he’s a drug addict. Yes, he has an addiction, but it is to killing bad people. This woman needs to stay away from addicts of all persuasions.
“I have to say goodbye to reconnect with what’s really important — with who I have to be.” Dexter did this by dropping the Barbie head into the harbor. I screamed when Rudy came up from the depths to grab Dexter’s arm. “Rest in peace. I am.” But I’m not — my heart’s still pounding.
